About
Ji Sunkyung explores the poetic tension between ecology and structure at the point where the vitality of nature meets the structural forms of the city. Subtle sensations from everyday life, shifts of light and shadow, and the trajectories of vanished movement serve as points of departure in her practice. Rather than directly representing objects, she captures structural and sensory cues that remain in the places where they once stayed and then disappeared.
These cues are organized through color, matter, surface, and geometric order, unfolding across the layers of painting, sculpture, and installation. Emerging from the interlocking of organic flow and structural arrangement, her “Residual Abstraction” does not seek to explain what has disappeared, but examines how remaining sensations take form again as structure and space.
Her visual language expands within the exhibition space as a spatial scene, where the arranged relations between matter and light, color and structure form perceptual conditions in which the residues of sensation are perceived through the viewer’s movement and gaze.
지선경은 자연의 생동감과 도시의 구조적 형상이 만나는 접점에서, 생태와 구조 사이의 시적 긴장을 탐구한다. 일상의 미세한 감각, 빛과 그림자의 변화, 사라진 운동의 궤적은 작업의 출발점이 되며, 대상을 직접 재현하기보다 그것이 머물다 떠난 자리에서 남은 구조와 감각의 단서를 포착한다.
이러한 단서들은 색, 물질, 표면, 기하학적 질서를 통해 회화와 조각, 설치의 층위로 조직된다. 유기적인 흐름과 구조적 배열이 맞물리는 과정에서 발생하는 ‘잔여적 추상’은 사라진 것을 설명하기보다, 남겨진 감각이 다시 형식과 공간으로 자리 잡는 방식을 다룬다.
조형 언어는 전시 공간 안에서 하나의 공간적 장면으로 확장되며, 배치된 물질과 빛, 색과 구조의 관계는 관객의 이동과 시선 속에서 감각의 잔여가 감지되는 지각의 조건을 형성한다.
